Charles Feazel
Principal Carbonate Stratigrapher
ConocoPhillips

Chip has over 34 years of petroleum geology experience with ConocoPhillips and its predecessor, Phillips Petroleum. His career has been equally divided between management of oil and natural gas fields and research on the rocks that serve as subsurface reservoirs for those fields.

Chip's research has taken him from the Arctic to the tropics, and from deserts to the deep ocean. He particularly enjoys working with geoscientists from other cultures, and his projects have taken him to the UK, Norway, Germany, France, Italy, Greenland, Iceland, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Belize, numerous Caribbean islands, and 49 of the 50 US states.

Chip has received awards as an outstanding scientist and mentor. He has also been an active advocate for science education, conducting numerous hands-on workshops for science teachers in the US and overseas. He is the author of a book and more than 20 popular magazine articles explaining science and exploration to the public.

Chip has a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and MA and PhD degrees from Johns Hopkins.
